What a busy week around this place!
Tuesday started with an inspection by the city of Maitland of the pressurized hot tub and deep end drainage systems. This had to be done before the gunite could be installed, and to make sure that the early plumbing is not leaking. Well, we #failed. At least the hot tub drain failed.
Luckily, Mike (the owner from Dreamscapes) got on the phone quickly, got someone out here to fix it, and we were re-inspected Wednesday with a pass. The next step would be the gunite- the process of shooting wet concrete onto the rebar formed structure to make the pool.
The gunite crew arrived on Thursday and did their best! These guys are amazing- I've got to hand it to all the men who've worked at our house the past few weeks. They've been doing hard labor in the middle of the day, when it's been 90-100* in the shade. Dave talked to some of the guys, and they said it was at least 20*-30* hotter down in the deep end of the pool, while wearing long sleeves, pants and heavy boots. YOWZA!
Deep end seating/swim out- all smooth!
Making the hot tub
And if all of this wasn't enough, an excavation company came out on Friday to do the pre-grade on the backyard. This included removing the wood framing and smoothing out the mountains of dirt and sand. It's starting to look like a real back yard again! Funny story here: As I was getting ready for work, I made myself a smoothie- a purple smoothie that splashed onto my white shirt, requiring me to remove said shirt to the washing machine.... As I was walking back to my bedroom to grab a new shirt- only in a sports bra and pants, mind you- I look out the back yard sliding glass door to come eye to eye with one of the workers. Oh snap! Good morning we both waved, and I went in search of the proper cover up. I never expected workers at the house by 7:30!!!
Looks like from here we'll be looking at the tile/pebble-tech/coping and plumbing installations before they move onto the pavers. Stay tuned for what next week brings, I can't wait! xo
Hot tub- HOLLA!
Still have a lot of back yard!
